Course Listings at the Baden-Württemberg Universities
Course listings for future semesters will only be posted 4-6 weeks prior to the start of the semester. While professors are free to teach a wide variety of courses according to their areas of academic interest, basic courses in many fields of study will be offered each or every other semester. Since you will not have a confirmed class schedule before departing for Germany, it is a good idea to get pre-approval for areas of study rather than for specific courses.
Most courses in English Departments at these universities are taught in English. In addition, all of the universities offer individual courses taught in English in various departments and academic areas each year.
Please note that most searches will bring up Bachelor and Master/PhD level courses. Make sure to read each description carefully to determine the course level. A “Hauptseminar” or “Oberseminar” as well as colloquia are graduate-level courses and undergraduates will only be admitted if they can show a strong background in the field.
On this link please click “show all possible search criteria” and then click “select” next to “Organizational Unit”. Expand “Organisationseinheiten”, expand “Universität Freiburg-VB” and check both boxes on the left of “Fakultäten”. Scroll down the page and click on “Carry over the selection”. Then choose English for “Teaching language” and click “search” at the top of the page. This will bring up all courses taught in English for the semester you chose - except those of the English Department for which you will need to add a few steps: expand “Fakultäten-VB”, expand “Philologische Fakultät”, choose “Englisches Seminar” by checking the two boxes next to it on the left. Continue as above, but do NOT enter English as teaching language.
On this link you may choose English for “Language of Instruction” and he correct WS or SS for fall or spring. Restrict your search by selecting “Department”, but note that the following pages are in German. By choosing “Fakultät” and Wissenschaftliche Universitätseinrichtungen” rather than an individual department you will find more course choices, particularly if you are looking for courses that would fulfill general education requirements.

Please note that Hohenheim offers courses in English only at the graduate level. Advanced undergraduates with good grades are encouraged to investigate the options listed here.
