At the Forlì campus, UMass undergraduates will have access to all services available to local students at the host University and will be considered, in every respect, students of the host institution for the duration of the study period.

With its 114,683 inhabitants, Forlì sits outside the major tourist routes, setting the stage for the ideal full immersion Italian cultural experience in a cozy and elegant urban environment which provides a remarkably high quality of life. Its strategic central location along major train and highway routes, guarantees easy access to all major cities in Central and Northern Italy, from Rome to Venice, from Florence to Milan.
The L. Ridolfi airport, on the other hand, offers easy connection to many European destinations. Libraries, museums and its elegant architecture make Forlì an ideal university town, and an inexhaustible source of cultural and leisure activities for foreign students.
Credits earned through courses related to Italian Studies count toward the Italian major at UMass (must be pre-approved by the exchange coordinator before registering). Courses are taken through the Advanced School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators (SSLMIT). Typical courses taken by students at SSLMIT may include: Translation Italian/English; Italian Literature; History of Italian Culture and Identity; Linguistic Interpretation; and other courses offered through SSLMIT. NOTE: There are a limited number of courses offered in English each semester. Credits will be transferred to the home institution at the end of each semester. There are a few courses taught in English through the Political Science and Economics departments.
