Location

Berlin is today Germany's dynamic, cosmopolitan and creative capital where many lifestyle choices have become possible. East meets West, tradition and innovation coexist in the metropolis at the heart of a changing Europe. Germany's largest city is a land of opportunities waiting to be seized in areas as wide and diverse as media and entertainment, culture, research and development, science and industry.


Academics

The internationally renowned Technische Universität Berlin is located in Germany’s capital city at the heart of Europe. Their activities focus on building a distinctive profile, exceptional performance in research and teaching, excellent qualifications for their graduates and a forward-looking administration. The TU Berlin strives to promote the dissemination of knowledge and to facilitate technological progress by adhering to the principles of excellence and quality. Strong regional, national and international networking partnerships with science and industry are an important aspect in this regard.

Their research and teaching endeavors can be characterized by a broad spectrum of academic disciplines, ranging from engineering science to natural science, planning science and economics, as well as the humanities and social sciences.
Students interested in spending a semester or year in the exciting capital of Germany need to plan their time abroad carefully and should consult their academic advisor and the International Programs Office as early as possible.

The exchange between the Architecture and Design Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Technical University Berlin offers a great opportunity for advanced undergraduate and graduate students to attend lectures and seminars as well as design studios in the university's  School VI - Planning - Building - Environment. While the majority of classes is taught in German a number of courses is available in English each semester.

Computer Science students will find a large number of classes taught in English.
