Program Description:
WHY THE PANTHEON INSTITUTE

The Pantheon Institute Study Abroad Programs for Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering and Liberal Arts is a small exceptional academic reality in the heart of Rome, Italy. Originating as the Penn State University “Sede di Roma”, it has become an independent study abroad program founded and led by Romolo Martemucci, former professor of Architecture at Penn State.
At the Pantheon Institute students learn in small classes from professors who encourage dialogue and use the city of Rome as their learning laboratory. Our program is located in the heart of the Eternal City between the two most revered piazzas – Piazza della Rotonda (Pantheon) and Piazza Navona. Here you’ll have the opportunity to live and learn from the best of Rome every day.
Tuition and housing costs are very competitive and similar or below state-related institution costs in the U.S.

ARCHITECTURE & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

The Pantheon Institute offers courses that transfer directly into accredited professional programs in architecture, landscape architecture, and engineering. Students attending any year level in professional programs can apply to attend their Fall and/or Spring semester in Rome. All students in our design programs are provided with individual drafting tables, equipped with sliding rules, lamps and internet access. The studios are spacious and bright, and also include a computer lab, library, plentiful pin-up space, a conference room and adjacent faculty offices. The professional programs include extensive travel to various sites of interest in Rome and throughout Italy; each semester includes a variety of co-curricular field trips to sites as diverse as Firenze, Paestum, Pompeii, Verona, Venezia and more. These trips are an integral part of specific courses and in addition to on-site lectures, afford students ample opportunity to sketch on site and explore ideas for individual and team design courses.
