THM - Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen - University of Applied Sciences, established in 1971, offers programs that closely connect science and practical applications. More than ten percent of their students come from abroad. Classical engineering disciplines, such as civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering, are offered as well as future-oriented interdisciplinary programs, including energy systems, biotechnology, medical engineering, hospital hygiene, railway systems, media engineering, business administration, and computer science. In addition to programs in computer, information sciences, and biosciences, Business Administration, as the largest department, offers a variety of specializations. Teaching takes place in preferably small groups and is focused on the future professional life of students. All study programs include compulsory work placements in industry and commerce, supervised by a THM professor.

Giessen therefore offers a wide range of cultural activities for students and its location in the Lahn River valley amidst a picturesque landscape of rolling hills makes for high-quality leisure and recreational possibilities. Study in the green heart of Germany and at the same time only 40 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Frankfurt am Main, Germany's financial center with one of Europe's busiest airports.

Students gain first-hand work experience at a German company. Following an intensive German language course participants will work full-time at THM partner companies from October to December.

Living ArrangementsTHM Giessen Students

After submitting an application all incoming students from partner institutions will be assigned a room in one of the halls of residence. The Student Services Organization ("Studentenwerk“) is responsible for organizing accommodations. As soon as you receive your acceptance letter from THM, they will send you the link so you can register for a room in a residence hall online.

How much does a room in a hall of residence cost?
The rent for a room in a residence hall is about €231.00 per month for students who stay ten months, and approx. €261.00 for students who stay four months. You must also pay a deposit of 250 euros.
