UMass Middle Eastern Studies in Jerusalem

Program Description

The UMass-Hebrew University program will introduce students to the historical, legal, political, and cultural background of contemporary Israel and the Middle East. It is intended for upper-level students in Humanities, Social Science and related majors who are interested in an immersive experience abroad. The program offers the possibility of Hebrew or Arabic Study and will consist of core and elective courses on politics, religion, history and law, focusing on Israel and the Middle East.

  • Religion and State in Israel: Historical and Philosophical Perspectives
  • The Palestinians: Modern History and Society
  • Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Origins and Issues
  • Theories of International Relations and the Realities of the Middle East
